Phthalic Anhydride

Phthalic Anhydride is the organic compound with the formula C6H4(CO)2O. It is the anhydride of phthalic acid. This colourless solid is an important industrial chemical.

The following are some of its uses:-

  • In production of plasticizers for plastics
  • In the production of some dyes

Sodium Metabisulphite

Sodium Metabisulphite is an inorganic compound of chemical formula Na2S2O5. The substance is sometimes referred to as disodium (metabisulfite).

The following are some of its uses:-

  • Disinfectant, antioxidant and preservative agent

  • Removal of tree stumps

  • Used as an excipient in some tablets e.g. paracetamol

  • Used as a cleaning agent to remove chloramines from drinking water

Antimony Oxide

Antimony Trioxide is the inorganic compound with the formula Sb2O3. It is the most important commercial compound of antimony. It is found in nature as the minerals valentinite and senarmontite.

The following are some of its uses:-

  • As an opacifying agent for glasses, ceramics and enamels

  • As a catalyst in the polyethylene- terephthalate

  • (PET plastic) and the vulcanization of rubber

  • In Flame retardant for textiles, leather, polymers, and coatings

Zinc Oxide

Zinc oxide is an inorganic compound with the formula ZnO. ZnO is a white powder that is insoluble in water.

The following are some of the uses of Zinc Oxide:-

  • As an additive in plastics, ceramics

  • Glass, cement, rubber tires, lubricants

  • Paints, ointments, adhesives, sealants

  • Pigments, foods, batteries, ferrites

  • Fire retardants, first aid tapes

Ferric Chloride

Iron(III) chloride, also called Ferric Chloride, is an industrial scale commodity chemical compound, with the formula FeCl3.

The following are some of its uses:-

  • Sewage treatment and drinking water production

  • As an etchant for copper-based metals in printed circuit boards

  • Used in anhydrous form as a drying reagent in certain reactions

Sodium Monofluorophosphate

Sodium Monofluorophosphate, commonly abbreviated MFP, is the inorganic compound with the formula Na2PO3F. Typical for a salt, MFP is odorless, colorless, and water-soluble. This salt is an ingredient in some toothpastes. It is widely used in dental care.

Sulphamic Acid

Sulfamic Acid, also known as amidosulfonic acid, amidosulfuric acid, aminosulfonic acid, and sulfamidic acid, is a molecular compound with the formula H3NSO3.

The following are some of its uses:-

  • Catalyst for esterification process

  • Dye and pigment manufacturing

  • Herbicide

  • Ingredient in Denture Tablets

  • Coagulator for urea-formaldehyde

  • Resins

  • Ingredient in fire extinguishing media.
